With
High-Speed DSL Internet Service
Sterling, Virginia - June 2, 2000 – Charlie Taylor, President of Financial
Services, Inc. announced today on behalf of it’s www.vidnet.org communications division
that an agreement has been reached to provide advanced communications software
to customers who purchase high-speed DSL Internet service.
I am please to report that we now routinely
achieve telephone quality calls, and near TV quality video during one to
one and multi-participant calls via Internet, Taylor said. CU-SeeMe®
Pro (see-you-see-me) is the most advanced Internet
communications software in the world.
When combined with a PC camera and microphone and/or headset, not only
can you see and talk one on one with your friends, relatives and business
associates, but you can also conference in groups, small or large, when
connected through a public, or private access conference center via Internet,
or even on your own network. Because
Internet calls do not incur long distance telephone charges, consumers and
businesses will benefit substantially when they make domestic, or international
calls from their personal computers.
The advanced communications software, CU-SeeMe
Pro, will be distributed free, after rebate, to customers who subscribe to Speakeasy
high-speed DSL service through the www.vidnet.org
website. Customers will be required to
pay shipping charges and taxes, if any, but will receive a rebate from www.vidnet.org equal to their purchase price
of the software – currently $79.00 – if they sign up for Speakeasy DSL and
purchase CU-SeeMe Pro advanced communications software within 10 days of each
other through the www.vidnet.org
website. When you consider that a
consumer can now get Speakeasy high-speed DSL Internet service for about $50.00
per month, get free advanced communications software, and make free long distance
calls, this will literally change the face of communications, he said. To qualify for the free software, consumers
must place their orders no later than June 10.
Who doesn’t have a long distance telephone bill of $50.00 per
month? Additional information and
details are on the www.vidnet.org website.
To complete a free long distance call, both computers
must be connected to the Internet and using advance communications
software. With the software, calls can
be made using an ordinary 56K dial up modem, he said. Free long distance calls are just the beginning, Taylor
said.
Speakeasy's
HyperFast DSL service is available in
over 50 cities across the United States, and is unrivaled in service, quality
and availability, Taylor said. They are
partnered with the nation's premiere Internet backbone provider, InterNAP and
the leading DSL provider, Covad. These partnerships allow them to provide
"two hops to ten backbones" connectivity to their customers, all
separate from USWest, PacBell, Bell Atlantic, GTE and other "Phone
Companies". They carefully monitor their network to ensure the highest
level of performance and reliability. In addition, they feature an independent
ATM ring at speeds up to 155Mb to ensure their DSL network outperforms those
used by most other DSL providers. Business customers can now enjoy secure,
high-speed networking between offices around the country, he said.
In addition to actually seeing and speaking with other
people, the advanced communications software also allows the user to exchange
instant text messages, share applications and collaborate on projects.
When used with MeetingPoint®
conference server software for business, colleges and universities, and
governments, CU-SeeMe
Pro communications software provides a powerful communications medium for
facilitating quality, on line, one to one or multi-participant, face to face
meetings.
I see and talk with friends and associates all over
the world every day throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom,
Netherlands, France, throughout Europe, Asia, Taiwan, Australia, and South
America, Taylor said, no long distance telephone charges!
In a recent CU-SeeMe Networks, Inc. press
release, Killko Caballero, president and CEO of the newly named CU-SeeMe
Networks – maker of the advanced communications software - said "The Internet has become a dynamic
communications vehicle and we're beginning to experience the next phase of its
evolution, which is the addition of live, interactive voice and video into our
everyday communications.” "With
the increased availability of broadband Internet access and the mass adoption
of interactive communications applications such as chat and instant messaging,
two very important cornerstones are in place for real-time voice and visual
communications to take off," said Christine Perey, Principal Analyst Perey
Research & Consulting. CU-SeeMe and MeetingPoint are
